Ces dessins s'intéressent à ce qui recouvre : la surface, infinitésimale. Ce sont les plis du papier, les aspérités du support, la fragilité de cette matière, autant de détails infinis d’objets à priori banals : une feuille de papier, une facturette, un sac en craft, un masque chirurgical… Le recouvrement, par définition, est l’action qui consiste à couvrir les faces visibles. Le mot provient du latin recuvrement : « action de rentrer en possession de ce qui était perdu ». Ce projet tient en une contradiction : porter une vive attention à une multitude de détails, mais aussi tenir à distance, voiler, montrer le voile, tel un mur qui sépare une réalité d’une autre réalité. Par ce biais, ces dessins donnent à voir autant qu'ils cachent.

RECOVERIES drawings on paper, 21x30cm, 50 pieces, 2021

These drawings focus on what covers : the surface, infinitesimal. These are the folds of the paper, the roughness of the support, the fragility of this material, so many details of banal objects: a sheet of paper, a receipt, a craft bag, a surgical mask… The covering, by definition, is the action of hiding visible faces. In french, the word “recouvrement” comes from Latin and means : "action to regain possession of what was lost".
This project resides from a contradiction: paying attention to a multitude of details, but also keeping a distance, veiling, showing the veil, like a wall that separates one reality from another reality. In this way, these drawings give to see as much as they hide.
